Burren Winterage Weekend
This weekend National Parks & Wildlife Service joins with Burren Beo Trust to celebrate the traditional and unique Burren farming practice of winterage, when livestock are moved to the uplands for winter grazing. There are many fantastic events happening throughout the Burren over the weekend, please see www.burrenwinterage.com for full festival programme. Some events are very popular and need to be booked in advance.
There will be some free and open events taking place on Saturday 26th October at McGann’s farm near Carron hosted by NPWS including a display of heritage livestock breeds, transhumance photo exhibit, yoga and a range of farming and conservation talks.
On Sunday 27th we will host this year’s Burren Food Fayre in conjunction with the Burren and Cliffs of Moher UNESCO Geopark and the Burren Ecotourism Network
Burren National Park staff will be at McGann’s farm all weekend so come and say hello if you are attending!
